The North Carolina Urban Wood Group has scheduled an open house at Carolina Urban Lumber in Charlotte, 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Oct. 29.
Owner Damon Barron has made it his mission to reclaim urban wood from the Charlotte area and put it the best possible uses from live edge slabs and dimensional lumber to artisan pieces. Urban wood not suited for lumber is being made into firewood and kindling. One of Carolina Urban Lumber’s customers purchases specially processed urban wood for wood burning pizza ovens.
Carolina Urban Lumber’s operation includes a Lucas Mill for larger logs, a Timber King band mill and a kiln drier.
